Everlasting love

Tue 17th Jul 2007 by Ben Palmer.

… that I'm not a poacher, and secondly, that I would never, ever leave him (or Emily) alone in the house at night, nor with a babysitter that they didn't already know.

I feel that some things don't need explaining to Harry. He understands that love is enduring and can be felt even when unspoken. I hope that the same sense is growing inside Emily.

Time of the moth

Sat 7th Jul 2007 by Ben Palmer.

When I went to change for last night's school parents' party, I carefully brushed my suit jacket and then started on the trousers, only to find them full of moth larvae and holes. A cursory inspection of the rest of the rail found another suit and a jacket in the same state. I didn't dare look …

Cards

… (and counting), and our cleaner's away as well - so things have been fairly fraught around the house recently.

Car crashes, TV interviews, campaigning, Harry's 6th birthday and his party aside, when I haven't been working I've been cooking, cleaning, shopping, bathing, dressing, clearing up 'puddles', reassuring and loving for my children, and I'm exhausted. The house is a total mess, but …

Dog walking

Thu 31st May 2007 by Ben Palmer.

Tuesday was an unexpected day. Being stuck at Jessica's father, Tim and stepmother, Marian's house with no car, I was going to look for a hire car to get us home and fill a temporary transportation problem, but a message left on my home answering service which was texted through to my mobile while we were all on a walk along the Thames near Marlow changed my plans.

It was from a Sky News …

Cake and candles

… and watch it rise magnificently.

Usually there's a wind that blows it over the roof of the house and out of sight, to go wherever it will, but today is calmer than in previous years and so with luck we'll see it keep rising, until it's a speck, up to Mummy in Heaven.

It's hard to believe it's nearly three years since we saw her; at times it seems like just yesterday, the memories are …

Threads

… with a treasure hunt. She needs it though, as she's using a map Harry drew ages ago of a different house, so she's unlikely to find any treasure.

I'll have to see how he is later; he's meant to be going to a party dressed as a Red Indian, and Emily and I need to buy some food. I don't think any of us are going to make it though, so maybe I'll buzz a neighbour to watch them for half an hour …

Your say

Fri 18th May 2007 by Ben Palmer.

Although this site, campaign and petition is because of and in memory of Jessica, it is for the benefit of future Mums like her. These are just a few of the things that people have said and emailed since this campaign started.

"I am an Independent Midwife, a supervisor of midwives and writer. I …

Minimum iron percale

Sun 13th May 2007 by Ben Palmer.

… commented that he'd been there before. Yes, with Mummy – a long time ago. Buying things for the house, and for the children's room in particular is the sort of thing that Jessica would have loved doing, and she'd have chosen well for them.

Emily picked out pink spots and pastel flowers. Her taste is as similar to her mother's as is her character. Nature not nurture, however good a job I'm …
